Welcome
Le West Island

Summer on the West Island means warm, fragrant nights, sailing, swimming, tennis, golf, fishing, neighbourhood pools and barbecue parties.

Cyclists warm up on roads along the shoreline as soon as the snow and ice melts. The world’s biggest cycling event, the Tour de l’île, occurs on two week-ends in June, with 45,000 cyclists pedalling around Montréal Island. The first week-end comprises a 22 km circuit for children from 6 years old, and on the following week-end adults are encouraged to complete 69 km.

Everyone gathers for fireworks and parades on our two national holidays: June 24 to commemorate St-Jean Baptiste, Québec’s patron saint, and July 1 to celebrate Canada Day. The festivities are organized by the local communities with family fun in mind.

Picnic sites - Beaches - You can drive to swim at Oka, Paul Sauvé, St-Zotique, or Pierrefonds' Cap St-Jacques Park within 30 minutes. Bois-de-l’île-Bizard and Bois-de-Liesse boast a variety of trees, flowers, hiking trails, cycling paths and picnic grounds.

tip Information on summer fun activities may be found at your library and supermarket bulletin boards. The map "Activités d’été au Québec" available in stores and libraries lists summer activities in Quebec such as beaches, camping, canoeing, hiking, sailing, wildlife viewing, kayaking and wildlife tours.

Check for more information in the sight seeing section of this material.

Here's a "summary" of warm weather fun on Montréal's beautiful West Island:
